Who should attend?

People responsible for applying the organizational policy on dealing with situations of violence and harassment, managers, human resources professionals.

Description

This two-day hybrid training program (asynchronous and synchronous) enables participants to develop their skills in internal mediation within an organization, and to intervene effectively to resolve complex problem situations within their workplace. Participants will also be equipped to coordinate a mediation intervention entrusted to an external resource. This training program covers the specific themes of communication, active listening, identifying needs and interests, managing resistance, as well as managing strong emotions and impasses, along with other mediation strategies and techniques.

Objectives

  1. Establish a sound conflict diagnosis and an intervention plan enabling the appropriate use of mediation in specific situations;
  2. Practice the four stages of internal mediation in the workplace;
  3. Apply mediation communication intervention strategies and techniques;
  4. Practice intervention strategies and techniques for managing strong emotions and impasses in mediation;
  5. Practice intervention strategies and techniques for negotiating interests and developing solution options in mediation;
  6. Know the limits of the internal mediation model in the workplace.

  • Negotiation theories;
  • Mediation: definition, advantages and disadvantages;
  • Steps in the mediation process;
  • Techniques and knowledge of communication;
  • Strategies for breaking deadlocks;
  • Role of a manager as "neutral" facilitator;
  • A manager's role as mediator - opportunities and limits.

Teaching method

Theoretical presentations, narrated PowerPoint presentations, exercises, mediation sessions in sub-groups of three and plenary feedback.
